TAHC&H's Winter Conference: Know Before You Go

The Texas Association for Home Care & Hospice hosts their Winter Conference on February 17th–18th at The Intercontinental Hotel in Dallas, TX. It is titled “Refresh, Renew, and Refocus” and from looking at the great sessions and speakers, I believe everyone will leave feeling they accomplished each of those 3 “R’s.” We are excited to attend this year and connect with familiar faces while gaining new insights on regulatory issues, bundled payments, marketing strategies, and outcome improvements. This conference has truly covered all of the hot button issues that our industry has been facing and will provide value and impact to the attendees far beyond 2016.

Below I have outlined three sessions I personally recommend from the conference:


1. Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacements (CCJR): Alternative Payment Models Are Here – A New Era for Healthcare

Speaker: Arnie Cisneros, PT, President, Home Health Strategic Management

With April 1st steadily approaching, many agencies are desperately trying to raise their star ratings to qualify for the CCJR Initiative’s payment strategy. Arnie will provide the key points that providers need to know to flourish under these alternative payment models and help us all gain a better grasp of what we can expect from this “New Era of Healthcare.”


2. Key Legislative Perspectives & Value Based Reimbursement: Implementation for Texas and The Nation

Speakers: Sam Smith, Axxess Vice President, Business Development (Moderator); Marvin Javellana, Owner of Better Care Home Health in Des Plaines, IL; Jennifer Gibson, RN, HCS-D, COS-C, Axxess Senior Clinical Consultant and National Trainer; Andrew Awoniyi, ND, RN-BC, CDE, Axxess Director of Research & Education

Value based reimbursement is positioned to change the way we provide care to those in need. This specific session asks the audience to participate and bring their questions and opinions to the table. The panel of experts including Sam Smith, Vice President of Business Development at Axxess and Marvin Javellana, Owner of Better Care Home Health will guide us through the ends and outs of making the value-based system work to your benefit. Marvin has used his experience to capitalize in this field and Sam works with agencies all over the country to help them leverage their own statistical data to remain compliant and ensure the maximum reimbursement.


3. Compliance Concerns with Hiring New Staff – Don’t Get Burned!

Speaker: Kara Kile, Human Resources Director, Foundation Management Services, Inc.

The word “compliance” carries such gravity when applied to hiring employees. Kara will cover best practices and share tips to guide us through the onboarding process while also teaching us to safe guard our companies and ourselves from high-risk hires. No matter if you run a home health, hospice, or private-duty agency, this is a do-not-miss educational session that will benefit you far beyond this conference.
