Home health agencies serving Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries are up in arms (and rightly so) with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Pre-Claim Review Demonstration that is now underway after a delayed start. With Illinois, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, and Michigan slated for the pilot program, many worry how they will withstand a program that mandates them to submit to a pre-claim review process. Weeding out fraud, abuse and improper payments are at the root of this program, but many fear that they are being penalized unfairly.
This year’s TAHC&H conference is titled, “be inspired, get connected, shape your future.” It is a message that resonates today more than ever. With new regulations as well as the changes imposed by the IMPACT Act, agencies are looking for guidance and answers. Attendees will learn how to navigate these changes from experts in the field.
Before I tell you about the conference, I want to give you a true, “know before you go” tip. The Renaissance Orlando is fantastic beyond just visiting the tourist sights. It has an incredible waterpark and splash pad as well as a poolside bar with some of the best “loaded waffle fries” you have ever indulged in (and potentially regretted eating later). The hotel rooms are spacious and they feel like a true getaway regardless of if you are attending solo or bringing the family. So what is my tip? Book an extra day and give yourself some time to soak in everything you have learned. You will not regret it.
The Maryland Hospital Association Leadership Summit will be held at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City on May 24, and it is shaping up to be a great event! We are excited to be a part of The Maryland-National Capital Homecare Association as a vendor partner. Ann Horton and her team have been helping post-acute care agencies across the spectrum stay ahead of the regulatory changes and working to provide opportunities for their members to succeed.
Last year, there was a buzz about having the New England Home Care & Hospice Conference at Foxwoods. I remember thinking, “what is the big deal about this place?” Well, on May 16th through May 18th, I am about to find out! This conference is an incredible opportunity for nine states to gather, place their collective minds together, and learn how to achieve their goals for the year. It feels like family at this conference and it is one of the few I look forward to above all others.
This year’s annual CAHSAH Conference marks their 50th anniversary and will be held at the Anaheim Marriot Hotel on May 10th through May 12th. This particular association was one of the first to embrace and further solidify private pay as a part of the spectrum of care. They have been a voice not just for the home health and hospice agencies of California, but for post-acute care as an industry and we are excited to have Amir Kahn supporting this milestone anniversary.
The Home Care Association of Washington is having their annual conference at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver from Tuesday 4/19 to Thursday 4/21. While you are visiting the Vancouver area, be sure to visit Tommy O’s Pacific Rim Bistro to be treated to top-notch Hawaiian cuisine.
The Tennessee Association for Home Care is hosting their “Leading the Way” Spring Conference at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs Hotel, and this is always an exciting event for us, as it's just a few miles from our corporate office. With their vendor speed-dating and inspirational speakers, this conference gives attendees powerful tools and strategies to rise to the challenge of today’s market.
I’ve attended AHHC Annual Convention & Expo the last two years and met some incredible folks along the way. Judy Penn and her team put together one of the best conferences of the year for both quality sessions and exhibitor interactions. This year the event is being held at The Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, North Carolina and it looks to be an exciting event.
